E.I.A. (Environmental Impact Assessment)
Planning Application - Update


We would like to inform all our valued customers what the current status is for The Palm's planning application.

As those buyers already living here in Thailand will know, the devastating floods that have occurred over the last 4 weeks have been the worst that Thailand has seen in over 50 years. This has resulted in Millions of people being affected in both their homes and work places with many needing to be evacuated due to safety reasons with the ever rising water levels. The damage that has been created to both homes and loss of business is estimated to be over $3 Billion and will take at least 12 months to repair.

Government building's including the capitals planning department where our E.I.A. application has been submitted has also been badly effected having now been closed for the last 3 weeks. It is anticipated that they will re-open potentially next week as the water level slowly disappear allowing for normal day to day business commerce to re-continue.

Obviously the impact of the above closed government offices has had an effect on all developers around Thailand with their E.I.A. applications being temporarily halted. We, at The Palm have already submitted our original application some 4 months ago and are now waiting for our final meeting to take place where we expect to pass and gain our E.I.A. planning permission. We estimate this will now take place just before the end of this year, a little over a month later than original planned before the floods arrived.

As it stands today, we are waiting to be given a date for this final meeting. These E.I.A. offices being closed has had an impact on our anticipated construction start date previously planned for this December. We are now therefore targeting to start construction in February 2012.

We would however like to inform all our valued customers that we still plan, with confidence, to complete construction of The Palm by late 2014 / early 2015 and therefore comfortably completing well within our targeted anticipated completion date of summer 2015.
